The World's Miners Are Racing to Keep Up With Demand

New analysis from GlobalData shows global lithium output jumped nearly 20% in 2025 to 338,300 tonnes and is on track to grow another 15% in 2026, reaching 389,100 tonnes, powered by rising production in Argentina, Australia, China, Mali and Zimbabwe. Argentina alone is projected to grow output more than 40% this year as newly commissioned brine projects ramp up, while Mali and Zimbabwe continue emerging as major suppliers outside the traditional “big three” producing regions.
